Following discussion with local organisations and youth group, Wokingham Lions Club has decided to change the date of its inaugural Swimathon to Saturday, September 7.
This is delayed from its original date of Saturday, June 22, due to clashes with planned events in potential teams’ calendars.
“Many groups and schools we spoke to were disappointed they couldn’t enter a team in the Swimathon, as it fell on the same date as previously arranged events,” said Lions Club member John Cleary. “By changing the date, we hope more teams can take part. The booking site is open for the new date, and organisations, schools and charities can register their team now and set up a Just Giving page.”
Teams have up to Saturday, September 7, to organise their team of up to eight swimmers of all abilities and get as many donations as they can. Spaces are limited to just 30 teams, so register now to avoid disappointment.
