Members of a Wokingham church marked its 75th anniversary earlier this month with a weekend of celebrations.
The congregation at Norreys Church marked the occasion with a host of events on October 10 and 11, including a photographic exhibition and a service attended by local dignitaries.
Peter Jackman, chair of the anniversary committee said: “We had photographs on show dating back to 1940 and the opening ceremony of the building in Norreys Avenue.
“Nearly 100 former members returned for the celebration, some people, we hadn’t seen seen for 30 or 40 years. It was a wonderful time of reminiscing.”
On Sunday morning a service to mark the occasion was held and attended by Wokingham Borough Council mayor, Councillor Parry Batth, Wokingham Town Council (WTC) mayor, Councillor Philip Mirfin and his consort, mayoress Kathy Mirfin.
Mr Jackman added: “Seventy five years after it was first opened the members of Norreys Church are still endeavouring to serve their local community.
“We have parent and toddler groups, a short mat bowls club, coffee mornings, keep fit and a youth club.”
