ON EASTER morning you may have heard church bells ringing.
And inside churches voices cried out in celebration: The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
For Christians Easter Day marks the beginning of fifty days of celebrating Jesus’s resurrection.
Each Sunday we are reminded that the risen Christ came and stood among his disciples and said, ‘Peace be with you.’
During this period we hear about the appearances of Jesus to his disciples and others before his Ascension, which we celebrate 40 days after Easter.
We share the joy of the first disciples as they experienced the love of the risen Lord, appearing to them as they went about their daily work.
Experiencing God’s total love, the love Jesus showed us by his death and resurrection, brings us new life and new purpose, as it did for his first disciples.
Easter is not just last week, or thousands of years ago; Easter is always now.
May you know the love, joy and peace of the risen Lord this Easter season.
