I don’t know what your lifestyle looks like, but perhaps you are caught up in the manic pace, that we all seem to adopt in this life.
We rush around and feel the pressure on us to be all things to all people.
I was also caught in the trap of busyness, but recent health challenges have forced me to slow down. I’ve been grieving my ‘old self’; the version of myself that had a diary crammed full of meetings, catch-ups and social gatherings.
Now I find I am in a chapter that requires rest and self-care.
The world in which we live demands us to be relentlessly available and consequently disposable when we can’t keep up with the pace, yet Jesus wants to offer a different way of life.
He loves us, values us, and wants us to know Sabbath rest when we are feeling weary and burdened.
His love is not dependent on our productivity.
Lent is often a time when we, as Christians, seek to discipline ourselves to a different pace. Now that Easter has passed, more than ever, we need to remind ourselves of those continued habits of rest.
I wonder if you are in a place where you are desperately seeking rest?
My hope and prayer for you is that you draw near to Jesus and receive the unconditional rest He has to offer.
Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
