IT’S A joy for our church to have had a stall at Wokingham Pride for the first time this year.
All Saints Church Wokingham, along with St Pauls Church, is an Inclusive Church.
This is a network of churches, groups and individuals working towards building and being a church which celebrates and affirms every person.
It’s much broader than welcoming those who would consider themselves LGBTQ+ and includes not discriminating against those with disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health struggles.
The Church has not done itself any favours when an organisation whose main purpose is to share the love of God with the world ends up being criticised for being judgmental and exclusive.
Jesus told his first followers that they would be known as his disciples because of their love.
Is this what the church is known for today?
Like many other Christians, we at All Saints are seeking to work towards this ideal, and to share with the LGBTQ+ community and the rest of Wokingham that God’s love is for everybody, and to strive to be a church which provides a welcome to all.
Revd Hannah Higginson is Rector of All Saints Church.
Sunday services there take place at: 9.30am.
