2025 marks an important milestone for a self advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham borough.
CLASP Wokingham will celebrate the organisation’s 20th year with 20 special events, activities and opportunities throughout the year.
After a short break over Christmas, the charity’s regular sessions restart on Tuesday, January 7.
The group’s Coffee Shop drop-in at The Bradbury Centre will be open that day from 10am until noon, all are welcome (£2 entry).
Other regular sessions returning are: Movie Mates, Dancing to Music, Book Corner, Happy and Healthy Club Sports and Fitness sessions, Craft Club, Evening Drop-In at Sedero Lounge, Active Sessions, Take Notice, Puzzle Club and Choir.
As part of the charity’s twentieth celebration year, members are encouraged to try twenty new things during the twelve month period.
Some will be activities provided through CLASP, while other challenges and experiences can be completed independently.
One new year opportunity for members is a drumming workshop at CLASP on Friday, January 17, which independence support worker for the group Michele Munro says should be a lot of fun.
CLASP performers will also continue rehearsing their Variety Show to be presented at the Whitty Theatre on Friday, April 11.
And a dental roadshow will take place in January, as part of the Learning Disability Part Board activities, with useful information presented in an understandable and usable way by senior community dental nurse Emma Jolliffe.
This event will take place in The Bradbury Centre, on Tuesday, January 21 from 10am until noon (entry £2).
“We are very much looking forward to all that 2025 brings,” said Michele.
“ And we hope the borough will join us for our twentieth anniversary journey.”
