A WOKINGHAM organisation run for and by people with learning disabilities has been sharing its views with borough care and support providers
At one of its Champions meetings, recently, CLASP members discussed appropriate housing options.
“We have the pleasure of running the Learning Disablity Partnership Board for Wokingham Borough Council,” said CLASP CEO Debs Morrison.
“We hold regular Champions meetings to share how the learning disablity community is feeling, which campaigns they want to be involved in, and what information they need to stay well, have choices and live their best life.”
At a recent Champions meeting the group discussed appropriate housing options, and how to make sure they have access to quality annual health checks.
They also began planning their next five-year strategy.
“There is always much debate and interaction,” said Debs, “with everyone pulling in the same direction but with constructive challenge too.
“It was great to see so many interests represented around the table at our recent meeting, including people with learning disabilities, health care and support providers, Wokingham Borough Council commissioning and adult social care representatives, carers, and employment support providers.”
