BRAVING whatever weather June brings, members of CLASP Wokingham will have plenty of activities to enjoy.
Their Art Exhibition at the library will be a cultural highlight for the self advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham borough.
Run by its members, it offers a range of social and learning opportunities throughout the week.
Regular sessions continue in June, including Movie Mates, Coffee Shop, Dancing to Music, Book Corner, Happy and Healthy Club Sports and Fitness sessions, Craft Club, Evening Drop-In at Sedero Lounge, Active Session with a walking group and My Journey Woky Bikes 4 All, Gardening Club, Take Notice, Puzzle Club and Choir.
June is a special month in the CLASP calendar, including as it does, Learning Disability Awareness week, which kicks off with a CLASP Choir Sing Out at Tesco, Wokingham on Friday, June 13.
The choir will be following CLASP’s theme of being Seen, Heard and Valued, and invite people to join them at the store.
Celebrations continue the week after, with themed sessions and the group’s flagship event of the week, its Art Exhibition, which will be held at Wokingham Library from Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20.
The group’s artwork can be viewed there by the public during library open hours.
June also brings the Learning Disability Partnership Board LDPB, held at Woodley’s Oakwood Centre, on Friday ,June 27 when members of the learning disability community will gather to discuss, support and learn.
CLASP members will also be helping at the Hurst Show entry gates at the end of the month.
“It’s a wonderful day out and we can’t wait to be a part of it again,” said Michele Munro from the group.
