CLASP and the Learning Disability Partnership Board (LDPB) held their annual Health and Wellbeing day in Wokingham’s Bradbury Centre.
The morning started with a breakfast time radio interview for the charity’s CEO Debs Morrison, followed by an information hub, with 16 exhibitors ready to explain services available for people with learning disabilities in the borough.
“It was a great success,” said Debs.
“More than 70 people come through the door, from day services, CLASP members and carers, including Stephen Conway.
“Exhibitors included representatives from Wellbeing – MIND, Places Leisure, Public Health, Adult Social Care, Support Horizons.
Specific learning disability services included: Advocacy People, CLASP Listen To Us training group, community nurses, and NHS sexual health services.
The Preparation For Life team had a weightlifting challenge, while the Public Health stand had hoola hoops to try, and easy-read recipes to make fruit smoothies.
“Exhibitors have already been sending us emails saying what a positive experience they had, and visitors said they had learnt something new, and had fun,” said Debs.
