The climate emergency in Wokingham remains a top priority for the council, despite a dedicated newsletter being merged into an environment offering.
The final climate emergency newsletter was sent last week, with subscribers automatically enrolled to receive the existing environment bulletin.
In a statement to Wokingham Today responding to concerns that the ending of the dedicated climate emergency newsletter could be seen as a lessening of its priority, leader of the council, Cllr Stephen Conway said: “Merging the climate emergency newsletter into a broader environment newsletter does not mean we’re reducing its importance – quite the opposite.
“This change allows us to reach more people, more often, with vital updates on climate action alongside related topics such as energy, recycling, green spaces and sustainable transport.
“The climate emergency runs through all these areas and embedding it across our communications helps show how it links to everyday life.
“We remain fully committed to tackling the climate emergency and believe this approach will keep the issue front and centre in a more consistent and engaging way.”
