BOROUGH gardeners will entertain visitors this month with an exhibition of seasonal home-grown fruits and vegetables.
Wokingham Horticultural Association’s Winter Show will include polished apples, perfect pears, and a gorgeous array of autumnal flowers.
Floral arrangements, and craft items from both adults and young exhibitors will also be on show, along with photographs, artworks and embroidery – some exhibits will be available to buy.
This year the association is pleased to welcome a new judge to its annual event.
“We are delighted to announce that this year Clive Jones, Liberal Democrat MP for Wokingham, has accepted our invitation to present the prizes at our Winter Show,” said Janet Gordon from WHA.
It’s not too late to enter the show, and anyone who may not have taken part before, is invited to exhibit their home grown produce, home made conserves, bakes, and even paintings.
Everyone is welcome to exhibit, and to attend the event, whether or not they are a member of WHA.
“Cheer up a winter’s afternoon by coming along to join us for a couple of hours, see the show, and then enjoy a slice or two of our renowned delicious homemade cakes with a cup of tea or coffee,” said Janet.
To compete costs 50 pence per exhibit, up to a maximum of £5, with a flat rate for children of 50 pence regardless of the number of entries.
Registration for entries closes at noon on Friday, November 21.
The Winter Show will take place at St Paul’s Parish Rooms, Reading Road, on Saturday, November 22, from 2pm until 4pm.
Prize giving will be at 3.45pm, followed by a raffle.
Entry costs £2 for adults, and is free for children.
