Wokingham Borough Council has said it is looking into the reasons behind a spate of accidents at a busy junction in the town.
Several local residents have contacted Wokingham Today to express their fears for safety at the junction of Rectory Road and Wiltshire Road.
One said there appeared to be a lack of urgency on the part of Wokingham Borough Council to address the situation.
In recent months, a number of the residents of Rectory Road have met with
council representatives and local councillors.
One resident told Wokingham Today: “All agreed that the major issue is cars speeding and driving dangerously.
“Over the last couple of years, we have seen seven occasions where cars have been in collision with the railings of the Fleur De Li apartments
“The cost of the repairs are substantial, borne each time by the owners of the apartments.
In a written response to a request for comment, Cllr Paul Fishwick, the executive member responsible for highways, said: “The junction at Rectory Road and Wiltshire Road has remained unchanged for several decades, so we are trying to understand why there has been an increase in non- personal injury accidents more recently.
“We have already installed ‘SLOW’ road markings, and are planning to introduce some additional signs and anti-skid surfacing to highlight the junction, and encourage safe driving.
“This should be in place by late autumn.”
