Wokingham Borough Council has started the process of procurement ahead of the end of its existing waste, recycling and street cleaning contract coming to an end in March 2026.
A tender notice on the government’s contract website, published last week, said “.. the procurement will be aiming to achieve mobilisation and service commencement under a new contract from April 2026.”
It added that discussions around the choice of procurement process are still ongoing, however most likely this will be ‘Competitive Dialogue’ or ‘Competitive Procedure with Negotiation’ process.
The primary scope of works for the contract will include the collection of household wastes, and street cleansing will include litter bin emptying, fly tip collection, flyposting and graffiti removal, the removal of dead animals and weed management.
The contract is expected to be awarded in spring 2025, to allow for sufficient time for mobilisation.
