A Wokingham gym has been officially recognised by England Boxing, marking a significant step in its development as a hub for the region’s combat sports community.
Wokingham Boxing Academy (WBA), based at the STMA headquarters in Wokingham, has secured full affiliation with the national governing body, an endorsement that confirms the gym meets strict coaching, welfare and safeguarding standards.
The academy is run by co-owners Frank Bowen Aquilina, Keith Forde and Nadia Aquilina-Forde. The team have overseen rapid growth at the facility, with a key milestone coming as Nadia Aquilina-Forde recently completed her Level 2 England Boxing coaching qualification. The certification strengthens the gym’s coaching credentials and was central to gaining official recognition.
Affiliation provides members with access to regulated coaching pathways and the opportunity to compete under England Boxing rules. It also offers families and newcomers the reassurance of training in a safe, professionally governed environment.
The gym forms part of a wider multi-discipline training centre that offers Muay Thai, boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other martial arts. Owners say they aim to create an inclusive space that caters for everyone from complete beginners to active fighters.
