THERE’S a new man putting the grocer’s apostrophe into Wokingham.
The historic market, which will celebrate its 800th anniversary next year, has welcomed Danny Edwards as its new supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables.
He has taken over as the main fruit and veg supplier on a Saturday, as well as trading on a Thursday and Friday. Danny, originally from London, now lives in Arborfield and comes from a long line of traders.
It is a real family business, with everyone in his family and partner’s family involved in some way with the fruit and veg trade in London and the South East.
Danny is up early purchasing fresh fruit and veg before every market, offering a full range on a Saturday and slightly smaller stall on Thursdays and Fridays. Whenever possible Danny likes to source local seasonal produce.
There is always a bargain to be had each day and Danny welcomes requests from customers if there is something that they’d like that he doesn’t currently stock.
Danny said: “It’s great to be able to trade in what is now my local town. I love to see a market in an historic town and would encourage everyone to come and try what I have on offer.
“I’m really looking forward to the new Market Place and being in the centre of town on a busy market day.”
