An Emmbrook inn is preparing to reopen its doors after an extensive refurbishment programme.
The Dog & Duck on Matthewsgreen Road closed on January 1, after a busy New Year’s Eve party, and staff at the pub have spent the past fortnight redecorating.
The pub reopens on Saturday and the team are preparing to serve lunches on Sunday and also bring back the pub quiz on Monday – a team from the pub recently appeared on the BBC show Eggheads – where they took on the brains and won £8,000.
The changes come just weeks after a new management team arrived at the pub – Richard and his family, Veronica and Chris, are in charge and said they have enjoyed getting to know the local community who have made them feel welcome.
In a post on their website, Richard said about the refurbishment:
“The Dog & Duck will be closed between 1 – 15 January in order to redecorate. Our first Sunday lunch service will be 17 January 2016. Advanced bookings can be made via this website or by telephone. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope you join us again soon.”
