A CELEBRATION of National Beer Day was a popular event at a Lower Earley care home earlier this month.
Residents of Austen House were more than happy to raise a glass to a special event that saw them try craft ales, bitters and lagers.
The life enrichment team at the Kilnsea Drive home brought in a range of brew-tiful British ales for the sampling session.
Residents and their visitors enjoyed the tasting in the home’s garden and took part in a beer-based quiz.
As if that wasn’t enough, some residents visited the nearby Seven Red Roses pub.
Joseph Patterson, general manager at the home, said: “We love socialising and celebrating all kinds of events, it is wonderful to be able to invite family and friends into our garden to join in events again.
“National Beer Day is a day that the residents really enjoy, who doesn’t love a cold beer on a hot summer’s day.”
One of the residents, Brian, was very pleased to be taking part: “I didn’t realise we had so many lovely local ales, it was fantastic to be able to enjoy a cold beer at the local pub with my friends – you can’t really beat that now can you?”
