A cat was dramatically rescued from a rooftop in Winnersh on Sunday morning after emergency services were called to reports of an animal in distress.
A spokesperson for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 9:57am on Sunday, February 22, we received reports of an animal in need of rescue on Woodward Close in Winnersh.
“One Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Wokingham Fire Station was sent to the scene.”
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the cat stranded on the roof of a residential property, unable to get down safely. Concerned residents had alerted emergency services after noticing the animal pacing and appearing distressed.
The crew quickly assessed the situation and used a long reach pole to carefully and safely bring the cat back down to ground level. The rescue operation was carried out without injury to the animal.
“They were on scene for approximately 34 minutes,” the spokesperson added.
The cat was safely returned following the ordeal, and no further action was required.
