The Abbey School

The Abbey is a remarkable all-girls community of learning and scholarship. It is a place of curiosity, adventurous spirits, and the excitement of discovery. We foster an atmosphere of warmth and support, full of fun and laughter. As a result we develop the assurance for students to take risks, explore interests and passions, and engage generously with the world in our girls-only environment.

Our outlook is internationally-minded and collaborative. Our goal is to prepare students to live with confidence, purpose, and joy. To support this philosophy we offer International Baccalaureate programmes at our Junior School and Sixth Form.

This means providing exceptional single-sex opportunities across the widest spectrum of curricular and co-curricular activities. Our job is to find, encourage and broaden each individual’s talents and interests. Therefore it is a privilege to witness our students’ liveliness of mind and help that to develop as they become resilient young people with the enthusiasm and tenacity to make a difference.

We have played a leading role in all-girls education for over 130 years. During that time we have adapted and innovated, preparing students for the always-changing world that lies ahead of them. That is true now more than ever. We seek to equip girls to face the future on their own terms, driven by courage, honesty and kindness above all.

Crosfields School has been awarded ‘Building Project of the Year under £10m’ by the Construction Excellence Awards for their new Senior School Building. They have received two further shortlisting nominations by the British Construction Industry Awards to be announced in October. The focus on investment to provide students with exceptional space to flourish is evident with this award.

Adam Mallins, Deputy Head of the Senior School (Pastoral) commented, “Students and staff have benefited from the spacious classrooms with full length windows and state-of-the-art technology. There is a calm and inspiring feel and the students have commented that they feel like they are in the Headquarters of a Cool, rather than a school; they feel inspired to learn. The café style dining area has also been a massive hit; gone are the days of the quintessential school dining hall and we have the street-style food to match. Add to this a modern library with collaborative spaces and a performance space complete with a 7ft bank of TV screens and one can see why students, staff and parents alike have loved the experience provided by this special building.”

Dolphin School

Headmaster of Dolphin School, Adam Hurst, is delighted to announce that the Heather Brough Pavilion opened its doors to pupils this term!  It is a modern, eco-friendly building, with light, airy and inspiring learning spaces. Taking a prominent position at the front of school, it is a wonderful new development, enjoyed by pupils, staff and parents alike.

The new Pavilion delivers approximately 3000 sq ft of new teaching space, including a beautiful library, art room, music room, two further classrooms and WC facilities. It also boasts a lovely outdoor decking area, overlooking a pond on one side and the school’s tennis courts on the other.

Please contact us if you would like to visit, explore our exciting new facility, and learn more about what makes Dolphin a truly unique school.

Reading Blue Coats

We are very excited to announce that from September 2023, Reading Blue coat will be extending its co-education provision to welcome girls into Year 7.

We warmly invite you to our Open Morning on Saturday 8th October and hope you find Reading Blue Coat to be a gem of a site as well as a wonderfully happy and progressive school. We know that strong academic results open doors, but more than ever our children need encouragement to gain the confidence and independence to walk through them. To be kind and engaged is what we expect of every member of our community. Kind to one another and to ourselves, and engaged with learning and the wealth of opportunities that can be enjoyed in and away from the classroom.

Queen Anne School

This summer, Queen Anne’s students celebrated top examination results, demonstrating the school’s strong credentials in academic excellence. At A Level, 96% of results were graded at A*-C, and a fantastic 45% at A*-A.

The 2022 cohort are heading off to top universities across the UK including Oxford, Edinburgh, Nottingham and King’s College London to study a wide variety of subjects such as Medicine, Law, Sport Science and History. Some students are heading to the U.S. after being accepted into Princeton University, Boston University and Parsons Fine Arts in New York, whilst others begin gap years and degree apprenticeship programmes.

Just last week, the school’s year 11 students collected their GCSE results which saw a superb 64% of results at 9-7 (A*-A). The school’s English Department are celebrating exceptional results with 44% of English Language students and 43% of English Literature students achieving grade 9 (A*). Head, Elaine Purves commented, “Our students have shown dedication, determination and enthusiasm throughout their GCSEs and I look forward to seeing them flourish in their A Levels and beyond.”

Awarded ‘Most Nurturing Prep School- SE’ in the Lux Private Education awards, the school strives to provide the very best both academically and pastorally. Pupils’ happiness and wellbeing is of paramount importance.  They firmly believe that a happy, secure, confident child can make excellent progress in all aspects of their school life.

They enthuse each child to discover all of their talents and to develop a passion to pursue them. They motivate children to embrace challenge, think creatively, develop self-confidence and to foster empathy towards others, preparing them both intellectually and emotionally for success in the modern world.

Holme Grange School

Leighton Park

Leighton Park was founded in 1890 and is a day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 11-18 set in 65 acres of beautiful parkland in Reading or  just 30 minutes from Central London. Winner of the Best Co-educational School 2021, South East England, the School has been fully co-ed since 1993 and has a 50:50 ratio of girls to boys at its Year 7 entry point.

The UK Government’s latest Sixth Form league tables reveal Leighton Park to be the best performing School in Berkshire. Our A Level students achieved 72% A*/A last year. The Independent School Inspectorate (ISI) awarded Leighton Park a ‘double excellent’ standard in January 2022, the highest possible attainment for an independent school.

Our approach is to support students to succeed as themselves, with the breadth and depth to thrive in life as well as in the academic arena. Our aim is to nurture our student’s talents, whatever they might be, with academic achievement the consequence of our approach rather than the object. STEAM, Music and Ethical Changemakers programmes are particular strengths of the school.
