A WOODLEY woman’s variety show has helped a cancer charity raise more than £1,000.
The evening of entertainment was organised by Emma Macedo and held at The Whitty Theatre in Wokingham earlier this autumn.
The bill included Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra (RASPO), dancers from award winning street dance company Urban Stylez, local funk rock band Selina and the Howlin’ Dogs and students from other local recreational groups including Virtue Gymnastics and Starmaker Theatre Company.
More than 170 people came along to support Emma’s event, which raised money for Macmillian. The evening was videoed and people could view it online for a donation.
Ms Macedo said she was inspired to support Macmillan, after her father received support from the charity when he was diagnosed with Myeloma in the Summer of 2015.
“I think the care and support Macmillan offer both patients and families in need is amazing and I love that I am able to make a contribution,” she said.
So far, more than £1,030 has been raised, which Macmillan said could fund 36 hours of nursing, helping people affected by cancer and their families receive the practical, emotional and medical support.
