A Wokingham rugby player is set to represent in a tournament later this month.
What makes Aaron Fowler’s achievement more outstanding is that he’s visually impaired.
Aaron will be playing for the England Visually Impaired rugby team in an International tournament in France. England will be competing against France and Ireland at the Stade Mayol Stadium, the home of Toulon.
In preparation for the match, Aaron has been fundraising. The squad has been taking on various challenges to raise money for the trip to France.
Aaron completed a 30-mile walk along the Thames Path from Windsor, and also finished running 10 kms a day for ten consecutive days.
Visually impaired rugby began in 2016 and was established by The Change Foundation, a charity based in Croydon. Aaron made his England debut in 2019 in a series against Japan in Tokyo.
Aaron said: “We don’t receive any funding from the Rugby Football Union, so all of the players have been taking on various challenges to raise money to help fund our trip to France.
He also launched an online fundraising campaign.
