A CLEAN energy company based in Reading has received an award for one of its solar farms.
Enviromena, which develops renewable energy projects, has garnered another accolade following the Solar & Storage Awards last week.
The awards celebrate organisations and projects which endeavour to build a sustainable, healthy, and prosperous economy.
Enviromena’s solar farm, Horsey Levels, in Somerset, made history last year when it became the first solar project to begin operation following changes to National Grid Electricity Distribution.
The farm has garnered the Networks and Connections Award for its crucial contribution in advancing sustainable energy solutions in the UK.
The awards event in Birmingham also saw keynote speeches from Scottish Minister for Climate Action Alasdair Allan; Robert Barthorpe, senior lecturer at the University of Sheffield; George Clark; and Chris Stark of the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero.
Chief Operating Officer Gary Hales said: “We are delighted that Horsey Levels has won this prestigious award which acknowledges the significant contributions that Enviromena has made to clean energy production in the UK.
“Our Horsey Levels project was the first in the UK to be energised ahead of its original connection date under the National Grid’s Technical Limits program.
“This innovative solution between generators and the National Grid has accelerated project connection dates across the UK, some by more than ten years.
“This recognition highlights the creativity and teamwork of our exceptional team, and I am extremely proud that Horsey Levels solar farm has been recognised as a ground-breaking initiative.”
Enviromena is among the largest UK providers of clean energy solutions and was also awarded the Clean Energy Sustainability Award at The Berkshire Business Awards earlier this year.
