A GROUP of art lovers invites residents to escape the borough’s wintry weather to be transported to Renaissance Venice.
The Arts Society Wokingham’s next lecture will, says the group, luxuriate in the sumptuous Indian jewellery, silks and porcelains that were being imported into 16th century Europe.
Chantal Brotherton-Ratcliffe will be sharing her fascination for the painters living in Venice then, and will describe how Venice’s new luxuries were being depicted by Renaissance artist Veronese.
The Arts Society Wokingham offers a full programme of lectures, study days and visits, with new members and guests always welcomed.
Members and guests of the group will be able to enjoy Chantal’s illustrated talk at King’s Academy, Binfield on Monday, January 19.
Tea and coffee will be served from 7.15pm with the talk beginning at 7.45pm.
