FAMILIES flocked to Wokingham’s Cantley Park at the weekend for a fun day out.
SAFE’s (Saving Abandoned Fly-Grazing Equines) annual fundraising event drew hundreds of people into the summer sunshine.
The Family Fun Day ran from 11am until 5pm, with attendees able to enjoy a barbecue, teas and cakes, and a licenced bar, while picnicking in Cantley Field.

Visitors were able to enjoy traditional family entertainment, including a dog show, donkey rides, a funfair, inflatables, tombolas, and a raffle.
Youngsters also had an opportunity to put their karate skills to the test, or to aim for a hole in one at mini golf.

Others were brave enough to get up close to reptiles, even trying on a few snakes for size.

Spruced up canines competed in a dog show, and people were able to meet some of SAFE’s rescue ponies, reminding them of the important work SAFE does to improve the lives and health of neglected and abandoned horses in the borough.
SAFE is run by a small group of volunteers across Berkshire and Surrey.

They give up their time on a regular basis to help horses and ponies who have been abandoned or neglected, keeping them safe and away from harm, aiming to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome.
They are currently looking after 28 horses.
