A hearing will be heard to rule on an appeal by developers against a decision to refuse plans to build 32 homes on Nine Mile Ride.
Elivia Homes has appealed the decision by Wokingham Borough Council in June 2024 to refuse outline planning consent to demolish two existing dwellings in the site, and replace them with 32 new properties.
The application relates to land behind 238 and 240, Nine Mile Ride, in Finchampstead.
The site is approximately 1.9 hectares in size, and is located to the south of Nine Mile Ride. The site falls within the settlement limits of Finchampstead North.
Officers refused the decision, citing poor layout design and the scale of the dwellings, taking account of the topography of the site and the loss of trees.
It was also noted how the proposed scheme “.. is an incongruous form of development which will erode the character and appearance of the local area.”
An inspector, appointed by the Office of the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, will hold a hearing into this appeal at the Council offices at Shute End in Wokingham.
The hearing will open at 10am on Tuesday, January 28, and is due to run for two days.
All attendees in person or virtually should register with the Council in advance by emailing [email protected].
At the hearing and, at the inspector’s discretion, you can take part in the discussion.
Anyone wishing to speak at the hearing should make themselves known to the inspector on the day.
