Former Reading FC player Caylan Vickers has been recalled from his loan spell at Barnsley.
The 20-year-old joined the League One club earlier this season on a temporary deal aimed at giving him first-team experience. Barnsley confirmed the loan has now been ended early.
Vickers came through the academy system at Reading, where he progressed through the club’s youth ranks and featured regularly at under-21 level before breaking into the first-team.
Vickers made a strong impact during his short stint with the first-team before he departed in January 2024 to join Brighton & Hove Albion to feature for their U21s side.
Barnsley thanked the player for his contribution during his time at Oakwell, but have not given further details on the reasons for the recall. He netted two goals in 15 games for the Tykes.
Vickers’ next move has yet to be confirmed, with the recall allowing his parent club to consider his options for the remainder of the season.
