THE SUCCESS of an apprenticeship scheme has been marked by a local hospital.
Last week, some of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust’s 130 apprentices took to the hospital’s helipad to mark National Apprenticeship Week.
The hospital trust said that apprenticeships are available in a variety of areas such as IT, business and administration, student nursing, healthcare science, customer services, portering and many more.
And the pictured apprentices are all already employed by the Trust, which also runs Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, and have signed up to apprenticeships as part of their career development plans.
Nicola Morgan, learning and development manager at the Trust, said: “Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for individuals to gain valuable skills and knowledge in a specific job role”.
“They are also an effective way for any organisation to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.”
National Apprenticeship Week also provided a launchpad for an exciting new apprenticeship scheme working within organisations across health and social care.
Starting in spring, the initiative is being run by the Frimley Health and Care integrated care system (ICS), a partnership of health organisations and local authorities working together to provide a joined-up health, care and wellbeing system.
The 15-month rotational programme is supporting people to start on a career in health and social care while working towards a nationally recognised qualification – with the guarantee of a full-time job offer on successful completion.
After an initial induction, the apprentices will obtain their Care Certificate and then commence training towards their Adult Care Level 2 Apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship scheme is an opportunity for anyone who wants to start a career or retrain in health and social care.
