AN EARLEY charity has received a significant boost from the National Lottery Community Fund.
Children’s bereavement support organisation Daisy’s Dream has been awarded £250,000 of funding over the next five years from the fund, made possible thanks to National Lottery players.
Laura Lewis, CEO at Daisy’s Dream, said: “Securing this funding for the next five years is a huge achievement for us at Daisy’s Dream.
“Each year we have to raise over £500k to be able to deliver our essential services, so to have a proportion of that already accounted for will give us a bit more space to think about the development of the charity.
“As a small organisation we seek to be responsive to the needs of the families that require our help, and we are very grateful to The National Lottery for helping us do this.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund and to every single National Lottery player.
“By playing the lottery, you are helping charities like Daisy’s Dream continue their vital work in communities across the UK.”
Every week, Daisy’s Dream supports children and young people who are facing the devastating loss or serious illness of someone close to them.
Through its one-to-one support, group work, and specialist guidance for families and professionals, the charity helps young people navigate grief and build resilience during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
The funding will give the team a valuable opportunity to plan ahead, but is not a complete solution to the charity’s financial needs.
The charity receives no statutory funding, and all its bereavement support services for children and young people are provided completely free of charge to the families who need them.
To support its fundraising this year Daisy’s Dream is asking supporters to hold a bake sale to celebrate the charity’s 30th anniversary year, and hopes to raise £30,000 by the end of June.
