Wokingham borough council has said it is working to minimise disruption on the borough’s roads despite multiple pressures.
In the last fortnight is has postponed SGN’s planned road closure for gas main replacement work on Lower Wokingham Road in Crowthorne. This would have put more pressure on Nine Mile Ride, which has seen a large traffic increase from an ongoing road closure in Wokingham to support the south Wokingham distributor road.
It said there’ll be some extra relief at the junction of Waterloo Road and William Heelas Way, as South East Water have removed temporary lights and postponed their pipe diversion work to move protected newts from the site.
SGN also had temporary lights on Finchampstead Road in Wokingham, near Tangley Drive, to investigate poor gas pressure. That didn’t have much impact due to low traffic volumes on that stretch of the road.
