Mystery surrounds the future of a prominent shop in Wokingham town centre after news emerged that the company is “.. on the brink of administration.”
Owners of The Original Factory Shop (TOFS) Modella said the decision, which also impacts the high street chain Claire’s, will mean 1,355 employees in the UK and Ireland at 154 Claire’s will be put at risk, and 1,220 staff across 140 TOFS’ stores.
The Original Factory Shop moved into Market Place in Wokingham in June 2023.
The firm did not respond to a request from Wokingham Today last week when its premises were listed for let on a real estate platform.
That listed the rent for ground floor and first floor property with a combined space of 200 sqm as being £90,000 per annum, excluding business rates.
The advert suggested the property at 32-33 Market Place was available subject to vacant possession.
