One of the highlights of Wokingham’s year is set to take place on Sunday.
Wokingham Lions Club will be bringing the Wokingham Winter Carnival to the town centre on Sunday, November 30. The free-to-enter fun day out is a great way to start celebrating Christmas and the festive season.
The Wokingham Winter Carnival benefits from major support from Wokingham town council, the Wokingham Society.
Other sponsors include Clifton Ingram, Hunters estate agents, TradeMark Windows, Allder Glass, Blandy & Blandy, Ceda Healthcare private GP clinic and Volker Wessels. In addition, the support from First Days children’s charity, who host Father Christmas, is much appreciated.
Wokingham Lions would also like to thank the other groups and individuals for their voluntary help with manpower on the day.
The support from local publications is also much appreciated.
Tim Hanton, Wokingham Lions club Winter Carnival chairman is heading the team for a fourth year.
He said: “We are excited to be bringing rhe Winter Carnival 2025 to Wokingham.
“It is a fantastic day out for the residents of Wokingham and the surrounding area, with great entertainment, fun stalls and shopping opportunities, to get everyone in the festive spirit”.
The Winter Carnival is held throughout the town centre, including Denmark Street, Market Place, Peach Street, Broad Street, Rose Street, Peach Place and it also extends down onto the hardstanding area adjacent to Elms Field.
The official start is 11am, but stalls and rides will be open from 10:30. Many of the ever-popular attractions will be back including the fairground rides (charges apply), all day entertainment on the stage in Market Place, plus street entertainment around the town. Father Christmas will base himself with First Days children’s charity, at their School Days project in The Courtyard, next to the Denmark Street car park.
Tickets to visit Father Christmas sold out very quickly, however, the full programme for the day is available at www.wokinghamlions.org.uk/wc25. Visit www.wintercarnival.co.uk to keep up-to-date with event news.
Over 150 stalls have booked to be at Wokingham Winter Carnival, and the event is now ‘Sold-Out’. Stalls will include craft stalls, food stalls and charity stalls, giving many small businesses and local charities an opportunity to raise their profiles and some much-needed funds. Wokingham Lions Club will distribute funds made, after event expenses, predominantly to local charities and good causes.
The day will culminate at 4:30pm in the switching on of the Wokingham Christmas Lights, followed by singing and Community Carols.
At 5:00pm, there will be a stunning Laser Show in the Market Place, which will provide a wonderful finale to the Wokingham Winter Carnival 2025.
