A PALLIATIVE care charity is asking people to contribute to a crowdfunding campaign to enable them to buy a specialist bed.
Thames Hospice has launched a seven day campaign, Every Cuddle Counts, to raise £20,000 for a new cuddle bed which will enable patients and their loved ones to share precious moments together.
“It’s a hospital bed that expands to a double, allowing families to lie together and create lasting memories,” said head of public fundraising Claire Redrup.
“This simple act of physical connection is incredibly powerful, reducing isolation and providing essential emotional support during the most challenging times.”
The campaign aims to not only purchase a cuddle bed but also to replace other urgently needed beds at the Hospice.
Claire Cleverley, whose husband was cared for at the Hospice, said: “A cuddle bed would have meant a lot to our family.
“Chloe and Ruby would have been able to spend more time with their dad, having cuddles like they used to do at home, rather than leaning over to give him hugs, which always put distance between them.”
Thames Hospice hopes to reach their £20,000 goal in just seven days, and says that every donation, large or small, will make a difference.
The campaign will run from Tuesday, February 25 through to Monday, March 3.
Every donation will be doubled by a generous match funder, making contributions twice as impactful.
