For 50 years, the Wargrave Village Parade has been a treasured village tradition, and it was fitting that for the 50th anniversary the parade was the biggest and best ever seen by the people of the village.
This year’s theme ‘Gold Fever’ provided an opportunity for a wide variety of costumes, props and designs. This resulted in flamboyant, dazzling and glittering event that sprinkled joy as it passed through the village.
Everyone from families, clubs, societies and groups participated in the parade this year, led by the sparkling Debbie McGee.
Bill Pollard, who recently completed a 230-mile journey to Paris on his penny farthing, said he was honoured to be part of the parade.
The parade finished in the heart of Wargrave on Mill Green, where hundreds of people enjoyed the village fete and a ‘Wargrave’s Got Talent’ evening, topping off a hugely successful 19-day festival.
