AN ARBORFIELD eco group has received National Lottery funding to support its work creating bird boxes in the borough.
The Eco Skills Learning Centre volunteers from Spencers Wood Repair Cafe meet at Old Barn at Pudding Lane Nursery, Arborfield.
There they cut the wood pieces needed to create bird box kits during children’s workshops held at the centre.
Billie Bachra, who runs the group, said: “We are excited to have been awarded a generous grant from the National Lottery Community Fund for the Eco Skills Learning Centre.
“This is a wonderful next step for the centre and means that we can support, maintain and extend our projects, like creating birdboxes, hedgehog homes, starling boxes and swift boxes.”
The eco group urgently needs more helpers for the centre in all aspects of the work.
“Do contact us if you would like to get involved in this adventure,” said Billie.
“It’s these grass roots initiatives that make a difference to us all and help our environment at the same time.”
The group says that there are still some slots available in June and July for the children’s bird box building workshops.
These are free, with donations gratefully accepted to cover heating and insurance costs.
