A BOROUGH bowling organisation is sharing their much loved sport with visitors in May.
Anyone interested in trying out the sport, which the group describes as ‘underrated and challenging’ can have a go at Hurst Bowling Club.
The club has a long and illustrious history, and its patron is Baroness Theresa May.
Established in 1747, it is believed to be the second oldest bowling club in the country, and was possibly even created for King Charles I.
Ronnie Ashley, the group’s fundraiser, says the club is keen to welcome new players to its open day.
She said: “The sport is for all ages, – from eight to 88 – and this is such a friendly club.
“You can be sure of a warm welcome, with tea and biscuits.”
Free guided taster sessions will be available, and people can take advantage of a 50% discount on club membership fees (on that day only) should they decide to join.
Visitors will be able to use the club’s equipment at the open day, but need to be wearing flat shoes or trainers.
The event will take place at Hurst Bowling Club, adjacent to Castle Inn, Hurst, on Saturday, May 3, from noon until 6pm.
To book a taster session, people should call Nicola, on: 07749 826565.
