Hockey round-up: Sonning 2s edge past Oxford to take victory

Sonning 2s picked up their second win of the campaign as they edged out Oxford University 3s in a close contest, claiming the three points with a 2-1 triumph after goals from Steve Crowther and Doug Whittaker. The win moves Sonning up to fifth place in MBBO Division 1.

MBBO Division 2

South Berkshire 2s continued their winning start to the campaign with Kai Gordeno, Sean Hardingham and Mike Longson netting in a 3-1 victory against Ramgarhia 1s. South Berks are top of the table with four wins from four games. 

MBBO Regional 2

South Berkshire 1s are sitting at the top of the division after they thrashed Milton Keynes 2s 6-2 away from home. Goals from Jack Baveystock, Sam Fox-Harvey, Ravi Patel, Harrison Scott and a brace from Tom King helped them to a comprehensive victory.

Meanwhile, Sonning 1s fell to their first defeat of the season with a 2-1 loss against Wallingford 1s. Huw Thomas was on the scoresheet for Sonning but they were narrowly beaten 2-1 as they dropped to third in the table.

MBBO Division 3

Sonning 3s climbed up the table into third place with a successful 3-1 away trip to Oxford University 4s, while South Berkshire 3s were beaten 2-1 by Milton Keynes 3s to leave them in tenth. 

South Clubs’ Women’s Hockey Division 3A

Sonning Ladies 1s stay in fourth place after they played out an entertaining 5-5 draw against Southgate Ladies 2s. Sonning fought hard to earn a point as they overturned a 4-1 half-time deficit to bring the match back to a draw.

Trysports Premier 1

South Berkshire Ladies 1s earned their second point of the season with a 1-1 stalemate against Oxford Hawks Ladies 3s, but they remain one place off the bottom of the table. 

Trysports Premier 2

Sonning Ladies 2s remain the only side in the division with a 100% winning start to the season, as they triumphed with a 3-2 away win at Witney Ladies 2s to stay at the top.

South Berkshire Ladies 2s dropped down to seventh after they tasted defeat for the first time this season with a heavy 6-0 defeat away at Phoenix and Ranelagh Ladies 1s.
