Average house prices in Wokingham borough rose 6.1 % year-on-year, according to recently-released official government data.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) provisional data showed the average house price in December 2024 stood at £500,000 – up 6.1% from the same month in 2023.
Across Great Britain, a home sold for an average of £271,000 in December 2024, up from the December 2023 average of £259,000.
In the year to December 2024, the average price for terraced properties in Wokingham rose by 6.9%, while the average price for detached properties increased by 5.3%.
The average price rise in Wokingham was higher than the 4.4% increase across south east England over the same period.
Average private rents in Wokingham stood at £1,408 in January 2025, up 10.1% from January 2024.
Again, the rise locally was higher than the 7.4% increase seen across the south east.
In Wokingham, the average rent for semi-detached properties rose by 10.3%, while for detached properties it increased by 9.6%.
Average rents for one bed properties rose by 10.7%, while the average for four-or-more bed properties increased by 8.8%.
The average price paid by first-time buyers in Wokingham was £394,000 in December 2024 – a year-on-year rise of 7.1%.
For homes bought with a mortgage, the average house price was £510,000 in December 2024.
This was 6.1% higher than the average of £481,000 in December 2023.
