Good-hearted partygoers had a great evening at a football ground – and raised valuable funds for young players.
Hurst Youth Football’s Party in the Park – actually at the Pitch in Hinton Road, Hurst – attracted 200 parents, friends, former players just back from university and many others last Saturday.
Events organiser Jason O’Connor said: “Everybody who came said how much they’d enjoyed it. It went really well.
“We had the field cleared by midnight, it was spotless. Hopefully, when we’ve done the figures, it will have been financially very successful and raised a thousand or two for youth football development. We’ll announce how much it was.
“Hiring winter training pitches with floodlights is expensive. We need to buy kits and equipment and we also like to keep the yearly subscription as low as possible.
“At the moment we have five youth teams. We’re on the lookout for new players for the new season starting in September. Contact us if you’d like to come along.”
This was Hurst Youth Football’s first Party in the Park at their Stow Bridge ground in Hinton Road. Previously they’ve used Willowmead field in School Road.
There was a bar and barbecue and three bands played: Audio Tonic, Tastes Like Music and Bottle Kids. Hurst DJ Mark Fitzpatrick was in action.
