TO MARK the centenary of the Inner Wheel Club, members from the Reading Maiden Erlegh group came together for a black tie dinner.

Bearwood Lakes Golf Club was the venue for the 75 members and guests.

They were welcomed with a drink, enjoyed to the beautiful music of harpist Marion England.

A delicious meal was then enjoyed by all before diners were entertained by the Belle Canto Trio with songs through the decades since the 1920s, when Inner Wheel was formed.

Inner Wheel District 9 Chairman, Hilary Tindall, told guests about the 100 Years of Inner Wheel in this country.

She was followed by Reading Maiden Erlegh President, Margaret Adams, who spoke about what the Club had achieved since 2002 when it was chartered.

Many local, national and international charities have been supported by a variety of events the club has organised, raising approximately £100,000.

During that time, we have had lots of fun and camaraderie, and many long lasting friendships have been formed.

The evening ended, as it began, with a glass of bubbly to go with the celebration cake.

The Inner Wheel organisation began in the UK in 1924 and is now one of the largest organisations for women with over 100,000 members in more than 103 countries, with membership open to all since April 2012.

Our website www.innerwheelrme.org has more information about our club and the Inner Wheel organisation in general.
