Wokingham Probus Club was founded over 50 years ago, part of a worldwide network of clubs for retired professional and business men.
Times have moved on and most clubs now welcome lady members, the Wokingham Club has been “mixed” since 2018. The Club is now officially for retired and professional business people.
Since 2018 membership has grown and ladies have taken their place on our committee. Following our AGM on 6th April we now have a new Chair, Val Briault, Rosie Smith as Secretary and Pauline Williams as Social Secretary. Ladies in key positions leading us forth into 2022.
Our picture shows retiring PROBUS Chair Geoff Ogston welcoming his successor, Val Briault, Chair for 2022/3.
PROBUS is a meeting place for retired or semi-retired professional and business people of either sex who assemble monthly in an informal and friendly atmosphere for social chat, a lunch and a talk on a general interest topic.
At Wokingham PROBUS new members will find a warm welcome. Fees are modest, lunches good value and the company friendly with a wide range of experiences and interests from their varied working lives.
Meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month at 12.30pm for 1pm lunch, with a talk usually following. The meeting place is Coppid Beech Hotel, John Nike Way, Bracknell, RG12 8TF.
Presentations in the new 2022/3 calendar include a history of electronic espionage in the Second World War on June 1, and the reminiscences of a retired police inspector on July 6.
Prospective members will be most welcome to come and meet us, by prior arrangement please, and try us out without obligation. The contact for further details is Rosie Smith [email protected] or via our website https://wokinghamprobus.org.uk
