WOKINGHAM Town Council is hosting a new year tabletop board gaming day.
In partnership with Eclectic Games of Reading the event has been organised for both people who are new to the tabletop fun, or already fans of board gaming.
Organisers invite people to come as a group, as a pair, or on their own, and say there will be something for everyone.
There will be plenty going on, and the day is a great social occasion to meet like-minded people, they add.
A selection of easy to pick up but very re-playable modern board games will be running all day, with copies available to buy.
Cllr Barrie Callender, Chair of Arts and Culture, said: “Tabletop Takeover is a fantastic opportunity for anyone curious about board games to come along and give them a try in the wonderful setting of our Grade II listed Town Hall.
“We’re fortunate to have the expertise of Eclectic Games on hand to guide newcomers and suggest games that suit your interests and available time.
“It’s a welcoming, inclusive event where families, teenagers, and adults can all discover that board games offer far more than the traditional games many of us grew up with—and it’s a great way to spend time together.”
The event is described as perfect for anyone over the age of 10.
Professional demonstrators will teach players all they need to know to learn and enjoy a range of entertaining modern board games.
The event will offer longer Dungeons & Dragons taster sessions to ensure a better experience for players, which will affect availability.
Anyone interested in these sessions is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible once booking opens.
People will also be able to discover Blood on the Clocktower, a social deduction game that shares some similarities with the popular BBC programme The Traitors.
Both Dungeons & Dragons, and Blood on the Clocktower are more suitable for older teens and adults (under 14s must be accompanied by an adult).
The event will take place at Wokingham Town Hall, on Saturday, February 7, from 9.30am until 12.30pm, and from 2pm until 5pm.
Tickets cost £4 for adults and £3 for under 18s, for each half-day session (an early bird discount applies until Sunday, January 18).
Ticketing opens on Friday, January 2 at 9am, and ticket holders will be sent a timetable to select in advance any specific games they wish to play.
