FOLLOWING its Christmas Tree illumination ceremony, Bracknell’s shopping centre is filled with Christmas songs and sparkling lights.
At the ceremony, cllr Ankur Shiv Bhandari, mayor of the borough of Bracknell Forest, marked the start of Christmas by counting down to the switch on, while Nico Martin pushed the button from his festive Mini.
And for extra sparkle, the cast of South Hill Park’s Jack and the Beanstalk entertained with hits from their show, followed by festive singing from The Rock Choir.
Sue Boor, head of marketing for The Lexicon says: “We were delighted to bring the community together for a traditional start to our Christmas activities.
“Huge thanks to all that attended and for the festive donations to Bracknell Foodbank.”
Cllr Ankur Shiv Bhandari said: “It was a real honour to switch on the lights this year.
“I’m looking forward to picking up some Christmas presents in The Lexicon and supporting our high street.”
Family activities at The Lexicon include the opportunity to enjoy a virtual sleigh ride.
And people can also try out the Winter Will Wildwood slide.
It’s free, and for every slide made, The Lexicon will donate twenty pence to the foodbank, up to a maximum of £5,000.
Around 735 slides per day from opening until Christmas Eve should be enough to trigger the full donation.
There’s also a Snowflake Trail for families to follow around the town centre, with a chance to win prizes from Cineworld and Gymfinity.
And Christmas market stalls are back this year, located beside the 10 meter high Christmas tree, with wooden huts selling a selection of food and drink.
An array of choirs, bands and singers will entertain shoppers.
Tickets for the virtual sleigh ride must be booked in advance, and cost £3.95 per person or £12.50 for a group of four.
