A SHOP that sells foods, body products and cleaning items from refillable containers, is to begin a series of Green Living Workshops.
Maya’s Refillables’ new eco events aim to inspire and inform people, to help them live greener lives
Business owner Maya Gheorghe said, “We always intended that the shop would not only sell sustainable and environmentally friendly products, but that it would become a sustainability hub, a centre for information and awareness.
“We are planning a People Planet Pastry event, and we are kicking off our eco workshops next week.”
“It’s about trying to remove some of the anxiety that can exist around plastic pollution and the environmental crisis,” she explained.
“Sometimes the picture can seem grim, but actually, just by looking at the statistics in the shop, and the number of bottles recycled, you can see that what we do collectively really does make a difference.
“By changing our consumption habits, and understanding the world in which we live a bit better, we can all contribute to positive change.”
Maya’s Refillable’s first Green Living Workshop will be a session for reflection, inspiration and intention setting.
A relaxed small-group workshop, it will focus on the way people feel about climate change and other sustainability issues.
Described as a positive, no preach session, where people can draw inspiration and encouragement from like-minded others, the session will equip individuals to leave having made realistic commitments to help bring positive change to the planet.
Led by Heather Wright, the event will be held at Maya’s Refillables, in Peach Place, Wokingham, on Monday, May 22, from 3pm until 4.30pm.
Light refreshments are included.
Tickets cost £15, and can be purchased by searching for green living workshop, at: www.eventbrite.co.uk
For every ticket sold, £1 will be donated to Just One Tree.
