WINDMILL Primary School recently hosted a spectacular event to showcase the talents of its students.
Its Windmill’s Got Talent show delighted the audience and a distinguished panel of judges.
Heading the panel was freelance television presenter and local celebrity Paul Metcalfe, whose many years of experience as a quiz and game show have earned him the nickname Puzzle Paul..
Paul has appeared in Eastenders and Coronation Street, and last year compèred Wokingham’s Got Talent.
He was joined on the panel by Sue Jackson from Wokingham In Need (WIN), Cathy Valentine from Circus Scene and Wokingham in Need, former Mayor of Wokingham Borough Council Cllr Beth Rowland, and Cllr Louise Timlin, deputy mayor of Wokingham Town Council.
Poppy Bond, one of the main organizers from Windmill Primary School, said: “We were absolutely delighted to have Paul attending the show together with the other valued judges – what a fantastic afternoon.”

As part of the event, Windmill School presented Wokingham In Need with a donation from a fundraising film evening they had arranged.
The charity and Windmill School will be working together, when Wokingham In Need will be providing specialised well being and confidence workshops for the pupils, funded by WIN and provided by Cathy Valentine.
Cathy said that she was delighted to be involved in the project, and was very impressed with the children’s performances on the day.
Sue Jackson agreed.
“There’s some talent here that we will need to look out for in the future.
“It was so difficult to choose the winning acts,” she said.
“The children had worked throughout the year on building their confidence, with each of the school’s classes holding a talent show.
“Every child received a trophy for taking part.with 18 finalists taking to the stage.
“Trying to choose first and second prize winners for the lower and upper school year groups was extremely hard.”
Wokingham In Need began its mission to support the borough in 2015 by helping to upgrade facilities at Wokingham Salvation Army for homeless and vulnerable people.
Since then organisation has branched out, and among its other projects also provides Early Years mental health workshops to borough primary schools in partnership with Circus Scene.
