A SCHOOL in Ascot is to continue its royal connections after the King agreed to follow in the footsteps of his late mother and become its patron.
LVS Ascot found out the news from Charles III’s private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton.
The citation reads: “I am writing to inform you that the review of the Patronages of The late Queen, the former Prince of Wales and the former Duchess of Cornwall is now complete.
“Following the thorough analysis of over 1,000 organisations, I am pleased to confirm that His Majesty would be delighted to accept the Patronage of The Licensed Victuallers’ School.
“It is my great pleasure to share this news with you, to mark the first anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation.”
The vote of confidence in the school was welcomed by its principal, Christine Cunniffe.
“We are absolutely honoured that His Majesty King Charles III, is our patron,” she said.
“This continues our royal patronage going back to 1836 and we look forward to His Majesty’s future involvement and interest in our wonderful school.
“Our students, parents, teachers, senior management and governors are all delighted by the news.”
The independent school, which offers place for boarders and day students, is for children aged four to 19.
