MOONCAKE were scoffed at autumn celebrations held in Warfield, allowing residents of a new estate to come together for an evening of light and cakes.
The Moon Festival was organised by Woodhurst Park Residents Events Committee, and saw 80 people gather at Berkeley’s Sales and Marketing Suite.
The event is a significant date in many East Asian household’s calendars, and includes lighting paper lanterns and eating moon cakes.
Andy, a member of the Residents’ events committee, said: “This was our first time putting on a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration and it was a fantastic success.
“The event allowed many of our Hong Kong community here to share their cultural traditions with their neighbours and meet with other members of Woodhurst Park.
“We were also lucky to have some good weather on Friday evening which meant we were able to see the moon and participate in some of the more traditional celebrations.”
The praise was echoed by Benjamin Ivey, director of sales and marketing at Berkeley Homes (Oxford & Chiltern), who said: “We were really pleased to support the Residents’ Events Committee with their gathering which embodied values of family, unity and community – aligning with the vision we have for Woodhurst Park.
“The event showcased the richness of cultural diversity and community spirit here at the development which continues to grow as new residents move in.”
