The Rt Hon. Robert Jenrick MP visited Wokingham last week to meet Lucy Demery, the former Conservative parliamentary candidate for Wokingham, and to speak to more than 60 local residents about the future of conservatism.
The MP is a candidate to be the next leader of the Conservative party, with the outcome of the leadership election set to be announced in November 2024. He has previously served in government as a cabinet minister, and most recently as immigration minister.
He joined Lucy and Conservative party members at The Warren to share his values and ideas for the future of the party, and the country.
He recognised the scale of the Conservative party’s defeat in last month’s general election and offered solutions to deal with Britain’s challenges relating to economic growth, immigration and public services.
Attendees also had the opportunity to share their feedback on the priorities for people in Wokingham.
Lucy said that many came away from the event enthused about Jenrick’s policy substance, dynamism and ability to unite small “c” conservatives across Berkshire and across the country.
