CONSERVATIVES in Wokingham welcomed the national party’s deputy chair, Lee Anderson, at a recent lunch.
More than 80 members gathered at Sonning Golf Club to hear a speech from the MP for Ashfield.

He shared his life story, which included being the son of a miner, becoming a Labour councillor and then joining the Conservatives. He was elected to parliament in 2019.
Among those in the audience was Wokingham MP Sir John Redwood, who thanked Mr Anderson for coming and fielding questions from members.
The event marked Barbara Houghton’s retirement as Lunch Club President, and Sir John thanked her for her work over many years.

The Wokingham Conservatives Association chair Gregor Murray said: “Lunch Club is a thriving mainstay of our association’s social calendar. Barbara’s hard work, organisation and commitment are hugely appreciated.”
Jan Heard has been appointed as the lunch club’s new president and her first event will be in February with guest speaker Ranil Jayawardena MP.
