A BOROUGH Lions club is celebrating following the induction of their latest new member.
Woodley & Earley Lions Club has recently welcomed their newest joiner, the eighth in the last 12 months.
The club was formed in 1983, its objective to raise funds for people in need, local good causes and international disaster relief.
Lion President Mike Kennedy said: “I’m very proud of how successful our thriving club is. “The membership is made up of people from all walks of life, but who all have a common interest in helping their local community.
“We don’t stand on street corners with a collecting tin – instead we join together to hold fund raising events and while doing so have a lot of fun.
“During the club’s 42 year history, our members have raised more than £1 million, every penny of which has gone to helping others.”
Woodley & Earley Lions Club meets at The Castle Inn, Hurst, on the third Tuesday of the month, at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
