Tom Parton scored two tries as London Irish eased past Bedford Blues 29-20 at Madejski Stadium.
The Exiles raced into a 19-5 half-time lead thanks to Parton’s brace and a Stephen Myler try.
That advantage was extended to 29-8 midway through the second period as Dave Porecki and Tom Stephenson crossed the whitewash and despite two late Bedford scores, the Exiles ran out victorious.
“It was a real tough contest,” said full-back Parton.
“I thought in the first half we came out firing an executed our game-plan pretty well. In that second half we just slipped off in a few areas.
“If you do that against a good side like Bedford then you’re going to pay the price.
“But we got the bonus point so it’s just about going away next week now and working on what we need to do.”
Irish sit second in the Championship table ahead of a trip to sixth-placed Coventry on Saturday (3pm).
